Hiking - Walking: The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Mainly cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3.12 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Sunday 14th January - walk **** – The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry –
some sunshine but mainly cloudy.
No plans for the day especially as it started cloudy so did my exercises
while Mag finished her jigsaw puzzle she got from the library. Then the sun
made an appearance and with the wind light I decided to pack a picnic and
drive down to The Dip to walk to Felixstowe Ferry. Parking in our little
windsurfing carpark at 1.15 just as a huge black cloud caught up with the
sun but it was still very pleasant for walking. The tide was high and
splashing up the steps and it was pretty busy. We stopped at our place by
the River Deben and it was very pleasant eating our picnic, yesterday I
forgot the milk for our drink and today I forgot my teabag but I shared
Mags coffee so we got a hot drink! Well rested we continued onto Felixstowe
Ferry as a fishing boat headed in surrounded by gulls. Through the boatyard
and out onto the Deben footpath turning off onto Tomlin Bank which winds
its way across the golf course which was quite muddy in places! Back at the
clifftop we head down to the beach so Mag can wash her wellies. After
walking over three mies we were pleased to get back to the van, with the
sun making a brief appearance I drove to the Dock view point to check it
out, sadly it was nothing special so headed home for a cuppa and cake! We
have to get up early and head to Ipswich so Mag can have a cataract
operation, I wish her well but you are in and out in an hour and a half
these days!
